Dark images fill my sketchbooks, I prefer to use black and white but lately color has made an entry into my work. Working with ink I use several techniques to leave a mark on paper. The process includes laying down a lot of black to make the primary drawing, then stippling, hatching, contour lines etc. followed by some color. The next part is time consuming as I mask off areas with Post-its, then carefully/randomly spray multiple colors of ink, let dry then remask, spray/splatter, until I arrive at the desired effect. This latest series was inspired by concerns I have with many species being endangered or becoming extinct.
