Artist reception, Friday, October 4, 2019

5 – 8 P.M.

After living in North Idaho for 25 years, T discovered a source of material that astounds her. There are rivers, forests, amazing vistas and lifestyles that beg to be captured in art. T recently relocated to Spokane WA She has been painting for 7 years and is excited about what that will mean for her growth in the coming years. She can be critical of her work but will always let herself get lost in the moment of creation. “T” enjoys painting her clients “furbabies” as well and is very happy to take commissions of most subject matter as long as the images belong to her or her clients.

T started working with pastel when she inherited her grandparent’s art supplies.  “They loved to create, and both enjoyed retirement by painting and drawing.” She told me.  “I had always wanted to try pastel but was frustrated by student sets and couldn’t justify the cost of professional art supplies.  Here they were, just begging to be used.”  A problem with accessible pastel surfaces pushed her towards suede mat board which she could find at several local frame shops.  Placing the buttery pastels to the soft surface sang beneath her fingers and she was hooked.

T is now a full-time artist currently working through a 6-month residency at the Spokane Art School in the Garland district.  Between that and doing several art shows during the year, she has a fulfilling career.  A prolific artist, she is excited and ready to try new shows and join new galleries.
