Enameling is the art of taking powdered glass and firing it to the surface of a base metal to create a decorative surface. In this course students will learn the basic techniques of enameling onto a copper surface, creating a design in glass. This will include preparing the base metal, sifting the enamel onto the surface, firing and finishing. Finished pieces can be used to make jewelry, or as components in other sculptures, or as stand-alone art pieces. Students are encouraged to bring or go get a lunch at a local restaurant.
