Hand Building a Dinner for Two in Clay with Jamie Tate
Six Saturdays, October 18-November 22, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

This class takes place at the instructors studio in Mead, Wash. The address will be emailed after registration.
This is a beginner to intermediate level class. Students will work in clay learning hand-building techniques to create a place setting for two people. Throughout this class students will create two plates, two bowls and two cups. Students will learn interesting ways to create designs in the clay and through glaze application.
Week one – Introduction to the instructor, facility, clay, and tools. Students will begin creating coil-built bowls and learn design techniques to embellish their work.
Week two – Students will learn how to create slab-built plates and learn additional design techniques to embellish their work.
Week three – Students will learn how to create cups with handles through additional hand-building techniques.
Week four – Students will learn different glaze applications and ways to create designs on their bisque fired work.
Week five – Students will continue to glaze all their work and learn about kilns, which is the firing process for ceramic work.
Week six – Students will receive their finished glaze fired ceramic work and enjoy a snack and beverage hour with time to enjoy what they have created.
Supply fee includes 25lb of clay, kiln firings, and high quality glaze materials.
Please bring an apron and basic pottery tools, if you have them.
Meet Your Instructor
Jamie Tate
Jamie N. Tate (Lou Lou Pink) is a Spokane-based multi-disciplinary artist who works primarily in sculpture, installation, and performance art. Her works have been focused on narratives situated around the exploration and examination of hybrid identities and connections with nature. She received an Associate of Fine Arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College and a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Eastern Washington University with an emphasis in painting in 2005. She continued pursuing her artistic practice and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2012. She relocated to Spokane, WA. in 2015 to focus solely on her art making practice and other artistic endeavors. Currently, Jamie teaches at Gonzaga University and works from her home studio. She, also serves on the board of directors at the Spokane Art School and is an active artist and member in the Spokane community.
