Who can take classes at the Spokane Art School?

Everyone! We offer art classes for all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Don’t let inexperience or fear of trying something new keep you from joining us.

While most of our classes are geared toward adults and teens, we do offer some after-school, Spring and Summer break, and homeschool classes for younger children.

You can register online or call or stop by the school during regular business hours Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

You must register in advance for all classes. This allows instructors to prepare the correct amount of materials and supplies for the class and the assures that we have the required number of participants. Online registration closes 48 hours before the class begins. Classes that do not have at least three people registered 48 hours before the class begins, will be cancelled

That depends on the class. Some instructors find it easier to provide the needed materials and charge a materials fee to offset that cost. Others will provide you with a list of items to bring to class. That list will be emailed to you upon registration.

Class length varies from single-day 4-5 hour workshops to traditional six week classes that usually run about two hours a week.

Yes, the Spokane Art School has been teaching the Spokane community to learn and appreciate art since 1968. The school supports local artists with teaching opportunities,  gallery shows, and options to sell their artworks to the community.

Class prices are based on the length of the class. There may be an added fee to cover materials.

Spokane Art School did not raise prices in 2026. You may notice an increase due to a sales tax modification that now includes “live presentations” as taxable services. Art classes fall under this category.

All sales are final and refunds are only issued if a class is cancelled by the Spokane Art School. If you know that you will not be able to attend a class, you can gift your registration to friend or family member. If someone will be taking your place in class, please call or email to let us know their name.

Our instructors are considered contractors and are not regular employees of the school. If you have questions about a class please contact the school and we will help answer the question, or relay a message to the instructor.

The Spokane Art School welcomes a new featured artist every month. The gallery is open during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., but stays open until 8 p.m. on the First Friday of the month.
