Hannah Charlton makes illuminated manuscripts, recreating a historical art form using modern materials. We call them “illuminated” because they are lit up with gold and decoration. The Bestiary series is an alphabetical collection of real and imaginary beasts. Some beasts like the unicorn are still around, while others like the Yale (a hoofed mammal with flexible horns) haven’t survived in the popular imagination.
